Rinsing and Drying Issues and Answers

چکیده
T he ban on chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) hit users squarely in their degreasers. In the search for viable alternative cleaning processes, the first task was to determine evaluation criteria. When is a product sufficiently clean? How do we know when it’s properly rinsed? At what point is it adequately dry? After seeking out suitable non-CFC cleaning agents, we next sized up equipment best suited for them. The rinsing process looked very simple with minimum technical risk. The last consideration in the conversion plan was drying. On the surface, drying appeared the most straightforward of the three phases of the cleaning process, with a multitude of “industry proven” methods available. But good drying integral to successful precision cleaning is a complex necessity.

1 Purpose. To investigate pH and osmolality changes in the solutions stored in 2 contact lens cases, when different case rinsing and drying methods are used on 3 a daily basis. 4 Methods. Four multipurpose solutions (Opti-Free Express, Solo-Care Aqua, 5 Re-Nu Multiplus and Complete) and two hydrogen peroxide systems 6 (AOsept and Oxysept) were studied. Cases were filled with the solutions and 7...
متن کاملThe effect of saliva decontamination procedures on dentin bond strength after universal adhesive curing
OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of multiple decontamination procedures for salivary contamination after curing of a universal adhesive on dentin bond strength according to its etch modes. MATERIALS AND METHODS Forty-two extracted bovine incisors were trimmed by exposing the labial dentin surfaces and embedded in cylindrical molds. A universal adhesive...
متن کاملBond Strength of Resin-resin Interfaces Contaminated with Saliva and Submitted to Different Surface Treatments
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of different surface treatments on shear bond strength of saliva-contaminated resin-resin interfaces. Flat resin surfaces were fabricated. In the control group, no contamination or surface treatment was performed. The resin surfaces of the experimental groups were contaminated with saliva and air-dried, and then submitted to: (G1) rinsing ...
متن کاملFilament Anchoring Techniques of Toothbrushes and Bacterial Retention
Recent studies have shown that although the different designs applied to the filament arrangement of the bristles of the toothbrushes show an improvement in plaque removal, it may also increase bacterial retention and growth. In fact, this event may create more damage instead of benefit in our regular oral hygiene because it may become a possible source for oral recontamination. The new designs...

Basturma, a spiced beef product intended to be cooked before consumption, was prepared in three trials by dry-curing intact surface-inoculated (6 log cfu per piece with Salmonella serovars, Escherichia coli O157:H7 and Listeria monocytogenes) beef eye of round subprimals for 21 days at 6.7C, and then rinsing, pressing and drying for 6–8 days at 21–27C. The finished products had percentage water...
